2023: Kwankwaso, Sowore’s Parties Yet To Upload Guber, Assembly Candidates 3 Days To Deadline – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that two political parties, the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, and the African Congress, AAC, have not uploaded even a single nomination to the portal, three days to deadline.   The two political parties have former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Sahara Reporters Publisher, Omoyele Sowore as their presidential candidates for the 2023 election. However, barely three days to the deadline issued by the electoral umpire, none of the two parties have submitted the names of their candidates for state-level elections. Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education Committee, in a statement on Wednesday said 6,995 nomination forms (EC9) uploaded by 16 of 18 part...

Sowore Mocks Peter Obi, Calls Him a Homeless Politician and Invites Him to Join AAC

Omoyele Sowore, the Presidential candidate for the AAC has come out to mock Peter Obi of the Labour Party and the party itself. In a video released yesterday, Sowore referred to the Labour Party as an Orphanage which houses homeless politicians like Peter Obi. In the video, he said "The Labour Party has become an orphanage for politicians that are homeless. It didn't take long before our man ran there when he became homeless." He went further to attack the party, saying that a person who oversaw a 13 month workers' strike should not be found in their company "he Labour Party shouldn't have in its company, somebody who managed 13 months of strike, workers' strike in Anambra state.". He went on to mock Peter Obi for leaving the PDP and also made fun of the fact that Labour Party ha...

Opinion: The Bogus Case against Omoyele Sowore by Femi Aribisala

What we now have is a government overtaken by paranoia. Omoyele Sowore planned a nationwide demonstration against the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.  He captioned it “RevolutionNow.”  Every right-thinking Nigerian knows Nigeria needs a revolution of sorts.  Things cannot just continue the way they have been over the years. However, Omoyele’s so-called revolution was not designed to overthrow the government.  It certainly could not have done that.  You don’t overthrow a government by gathering a few thousand people in Lagos, Abuja and a handful other cities where you make speeches about what is wrong with Nigeria and the government. At best, his “revolution” was designed to embarrass the government.  It was intended to show that the presidential election result, where ...

Opinion: I Won’t Cry for Sowore by Badaiki Osighe Nabobcy

I don't expect that Sowore is not prepared to be in detention, so I'm not too worried about his loss of freedom. That goes with the territory. Being detained should be a minor inconvenience in a democracy. In the old days, a Sowore would have been made to disappear, never to be heard from again. That can't happen in today's Nigeria. The only trouble now is that the judiciary and legislature are Buhari's personal dogs. He considers court rulings as suggestions at best and advisory at worst. Yet, it was people like Sowore that worked hard with huge financial incentives to bring about a Buhari government back in 2015. They wanted Buhari to be president because they wanted  a 'strong' president. Buhari is doing what strongmen do. Just as we warned. I have no protests left in me anymore. ...
