The Police Service Commission, PSC, on Thursday ratified the immediate suspension of ASP Drambi Vandi who is suspected to have shot and killed pregnant Lagos lawyer, Bolanle Raheem. ‘I Will Die A Hero’ Says Kano Cleric Sentenced To Death For Blasphemy

A cleric, Abduljabbar Nasiru-Kabara, has been found guilty of blasphemy by a Kano Upper Shari’a court. He was charged over alleged blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad. The charges were brought against him by the government of Kano State. According to prosecution counsel, Suraj Sa’eda, the defendant committed the offence on August 10, October 25 and December 20, 2019. ICPC Frees D’Banj, Says Probe Ongoing

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has said that Nigerian music star, Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has been released but that investigation will continue. Recall that the commission had on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, detained D’Banj, after he was quizzed over his involvement in the alleged diversion of funds meant for the Federal Government’s economic empowerment programme, N-Power. Aisha Buhari Withdraws Case Against Twitter Critic, Aminu

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has withdrawn the case against Aminu Adamu, a 500-level student of the Federal University, Dutse. The 24-year-old student was arrested by the police in Dutse for allegedly posting a defamatory tweet on his Twitter handle against the First Lady. Adamu, a student of Environmental Management, was alleged to have posted a plump picture of Aisha Buhari with a caption in Hausa, translated to mean, “Mama is feeding fat on poor people’s money.” He tweeted on June 8, 2022. A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court on Tuesday remanded a 500-level student of the Federal University, Dutse, Aminu Muhammad, in a custodial centre for allegedly criticing the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari. Tiktokers To Be Flogged In Kano For Defaming Ganduje

The Kano State Magistrates’ Court in its ruling on Monday ordered the flogging of two comedians identified as Mubarak Muhammad, and Zazifi Bala, for abusing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on their Tiktok handles. According to Magistrate Aminu Gabari, in his ruling on Monday, the duo should be given 20 lashes for their offense and will sweep and wash toilets in the surroundings of the court for a period of 30 days. The Magistrate ordered that the individuals be publicly flogged. The convicts were also ordered to pay a fine of N10,00 each for defaming Ganduje and a further N10,00 for causing public disturbance.
