Emirates Airline Suspends Flights To Nigeria

Emirates Arline has suspended flight operations to Nigeria due to its inability to send home funds stuck in the country. This was contained in a statement the airline issued on Thursday. The statement added that the suspension became effective on October 29, 2022. This marks the second time the airline will stop flights to Nigeria over its $85 million revenue, with the first coming in August 2022. It follows the inability of foreign airlines to send home their revenue of over $500 million. Travelers who traveled to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja on Friday were halted by massive traffic jam at the Itobe Bridget, Kogi State, African News Today has gathered. Motorists and commuters plying the Itobe-Ajaokuta- bridge in Kogi State linking the Eastern part of the country to Abuja were left sweating at the bridge for several hours after a trailer broke down in the middle of the bridge, causing gridlock which started around 4:00 pm. Flight Resumption in Nigeria; FAAN Issues Post COVID-19 Guidelines for Flight Operation

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released new guidelines for travelers as the country plans to safely reopen its airspace and airports to local flights without risking the health of travelers. Henrietta Yakubu, FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs in a report said, “the new Standard Operating Procedure is aimed at protecting all stakeholders and preventing further spread of the Covad-19 virus.” Yakubu said that of the guidelines stipulates that every passenger must mandatorily wear face masks and maintain a physical distancing of not less than 1.5m. The authority stated that all passengers would be screened by trained aviation and Port health personnel to ensure strict compliance with the use of face masks and physical distancing.
