Losing Is Part Of The Game By Femi Adesina

Soccer-loving Nigerians were heartbroken last Sunday when the Super Eagles of Nigeria could not fly higher than the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the second round match of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament holding in Cameroon. Nigerians were full of expectations. The Super Eagles players were confident. President Muhammadu Buhari had done what the father of the nation should do, engaging in a video conference earlier in the day to ginger the players. Alas, Nigeria lost the game by a lone goal, and exited the tournament. Nobody likes to lose in a keen contest, whether political, economic, domestic, professional, or in sports. Winning is exhilarating, gives a feel-good sensation, and generally sends the adrenaline pumping. But you know what? Losing is part of the gam...

Aubameyang Left Out Of Arsenal’s Mid-Season Trip To Dubai

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly been left in London as the club embarked on a trip to Dubai for a mid-season training camp. According to The Telegraph, Aubameyang has been told to train his own even though Jack Wilshere, who is not even contracted to Arsenal but has been training with them, is included on the trip. Arsenal are looking to offload the striker, who is on £350,000-a-week, before the end of the transfer window but The Telegraph adds Aubameyang has no interest in heading to Saudi Araba, where there is interest from Al-Nassr. But with Aubameyang not prepared to move there, Arsenal may have to consider offers from Europe where less of his wage will be covered. Manager Mikel Arteta dropped Aubameyang and stripped him of the Arsenal captaincy aft...

Okoye, Iwobi Receive Death Threats After Eagles AFCON Exit

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye and midfielder, Alex Iwobi, were subjected to cyberbullying by fans, including death threats, after Nigeria’s exit from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon on Sunday following a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia. Youssef Msakni scored the only goal of the encounter with a strike from 25 yards out to fire Tunisia to the last eight and break Nigerian hearts. Some fans felt Okoye should have saved Msakni’s effort, while Iwobi was sent off for a foul after just six minutes on the pitch for what was deemed to be a dangerous tackle. Iwobi had been sent into the game in the 59th minute for Kelechi Iheanacho to help change the complexity of the game, but his sending off further piled pressure on the midfield and the defence.
