Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde and Aare Onakankafo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, on Thursday met behind closed doors at the Oyo Government House, Ibadan. Details of the meeting, which lasted for about one and half hours were not made public but it was gathered they may not unconnected with insecurity. Addressing journalists after the meeting, Adams said it was in honor of an earlier request by six southwest Governors to fashion out ways of improving security. The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, has described the viral news report that the governor is set to dump the Peoples Democratic Party as another falsehood being contrived by some enemies of progress. Adisa described the rumour as “a concocted falsehood from purveyors of fake news, who are bent on maligning the governor at all cost.” He maintained that the governor had no plan to defect to another party. The Federal government of Nigeria had on 29 June, 2020 permitted the resumption of schools by students in graduating classes to enable them adequately prepare for examinations. It came as part of guidelines to ensure gradual easing of the lockdown that was imposed across Nigeria to control the spread of novel COVID-19 virus which has forced closure of schools at all levels since March.
