19 Rescued As Three-Storey Shopping Mall Collapses in Abuja

Nineteen people have been rescued from the rubble of a three-storey shopping mall that was under construction in Abuja. Ikharo Attah, the senior special assistant to the federal capital territory, FCT, minister on monitoring, inspection, and enforcement, had after the collapse of the building said that seven people were rescued. However, he added that several people were still feared trapped under the rubble of the building which is said to be a shopping mall under construction in the 7th avenue area of Gwarimpa in Abuja. Boat Mishap: Illegal Operators Cause Rising Death Toll

Over 17 persons have been confirmed dead in the boat mishap that took place at Mile Two in Lagos on Friday night. Around 17 persons were missing when a commercial boat capsized in the Mile Two water canal at 7:45 pm. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed this as of yesterday. NEMA’s coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye said two bodies were recovered on Saturday night. One was a 52-year-old man and the other a 20-year-old lady. Ibrahim further stated that 17 bodies have been retrieved from the Lagos lagoon so far since the boat accident occurred on Friday. INEC Declares Anambra Gov Election Inconclusive, Fixes Nov 9 For Supplementary Poll In Ihiala

The Returning Officer of the Anambra State governorship election, Professor Florence Obi, has said that a supplementary election will hold in 362 polling units in Ihiala Local Government Area on Tuesday, November 9. Citing the constitution, Prof. Obi noted that election had to take place in those polling units for the election to be conclusive. She noted that election did not take place in Ihiala because there were reports of insecurity in the area. 10 Die As 21-storey Building Collapses In Lagos, Designer Warned Of Tragedy

No fewer than 10 persons were feared dead on Monday when a 21-storey building collapsed on Gerard Road in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State. As of the time of filing this report, many people were still trapped in the rubble, including the Managing Director, Fourscore Heights Limited, Mr Femi Osibona, who owned the building, and some of his clients and engineers. The Federal Government through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has grounded a private chopper belonging to Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God at the Lagos Airport.
