Governor Simon Lalong, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Council, has apologised to the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, over his inciting remarks about the Holy Father, Pope Francis. The Plateau State Governor admitted that he erred to have linked the Catholic Pope with Nigeria’s politics. Police Rescue Italian Catholic Priest Abducted In Edo, Kill 3 Suspects

An Italian Catholic Priest, Fr. Luigi Brena, who was kidnapped along Ogunwenyi, Usen community in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State has been rescued by the police. This was confirmed by Jennifer Iwegbu, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command. Iwegbu said men of the Nigerian police killed three of the suspects after the clergy was abducted on Sunday in the evening.   There have been cases of kidnapping of clergymen in Edo and across Nigeria. Police detectives have arrested two pastors in Ondo and rescued 54 worshipers with 23 children, who were been held in an underground apartment, sited under The Whole Believers Bible Church in Ondo state. According to multiple reports, the members were deceived and hypnotized by their pastors to remain in church under the guise of a prophecy that Jesus christ will arrive on September. Father Mbaka – Catholics Banned from Attending Adoration

Following the back lash that met Father Mbaka on his attack on Peter Obi, the Bishop of Enugu Diocese has directed that Catholics stay away from Mbaka's Adoration Ministry programs. According to the Bishop in the letter dated June 17 2022, the Bishop noted that the order will be in place until the conclusion of the canonical processes that the Diocese has put in place. Explaining why this step was necessary, the Bishop said "My decision is based on the fact that some of the teachings and utterances of Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka at the Catholic Adoration Ministry are not consistent with the teachings and faith of the Catholic Church."
