Legislative Aids Protest over Unpaid Salary Arrears

Legislative aides under the auspices of the “Concerned National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum” on Tuesday protested at the foyer of the National Assembly over unpaid salary arrears. The aides stormed the foyer of the National Assembly carrying placards with various inscriptions. They accused the Clerk to the National Assembly, Arc Olatunde Ojo, of failure to pay their salary arrears, implement Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS), minimum wage, Duty Tour Allowances (DTA), lack of training and Conditions of Service. Police Calls on Lagosians to Ignore Calls for Fresh Protest at Lekki Toll Gate

Lagos state government and the Police on Thursday urged the people of state to shun calls for fresh protest slated for tomorrow at the Lekki Toll Gate. They said the fact that two groups scheduled protests for Lekki Toll Gate would cause confrontation, pandemonium, public disorder and wanton destruction of property. Protest in Zimbabwe: US Summons Zanu-PF Spokesperson Over Comments

The United states has summoned spokesman of the ruling Zanu-PF party in Zimbabwe after his disparaging comments about the US ambassador in Harare. Patrick Chinamasa, spokesperson of the ruling Zanu-PF party, on Monday labeled US Ambassador Brian Nicholls “a thug” and threatened to expel him. He accused the US envoy of inciting anti-corruption protests in the country. Tibor Nagy, top US diplomat for Africa said, “Comments from Zanu-PF — while sadly not surprising — are deeply offensive.” “We have summoned the ambassador of Zimbabwe to explain,” he wrote on Twitter.
