Bomb Explosion Rocks Abolongo, Oyo Prison

There was another explosion at Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo town, Oyo State on Wednesday afternoon. SaharaReporters reports that the explosion, which occurred outside the facility recorded no casualties. Some residents in the area suspect that the bomb was one of those planted by the gunmen who attacked the prison last Friday. It is suspected that it did not detonate at the time. Security operatives have paid a visit to the scene to assess the extent of the damage. Some gunmen had attacked the facility on Friday, setting all the prisoners at the facility free. Suspected gunmen have attacked one of the facilities of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS), in Oyo State. It was gathered that the facility, christened Abolongo correctional facility was attacked by the gunmen Friday evening. It was gathered that the gunmen set all the prisoners at the facility free during the attack. Our correspondent gathered on Saturday that the attackers stormed the facility at about 10pm on Friday. It was gathered that the attackers used grenades to gain access and set prisoners free. Makinde Deploys 200 Amotekun Men in Ibarapa

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday released a security strategy to be adopted in fighting insecurity and other security challenges facing Ibarapa zone. The strategies, according to the governor, were arrived at after a meeting with security stakeholders, including representatives from Igangan, Ibarapa land and Police Commissioner Ngozi Onadeko. The Oyo State Security Network Agency known as Amotekun has said its officer, Ibrahim Ogundele, did not intentionally shoot a police constable, Fatai Yekini.
