Breaking News: Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun Resigns

Nigeria's embattled Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun has reportedly resigned. There is currently no official statement to this effect, however, indications are that she has indeed resigned. It will be recalled that for over two months now, she has been the subject of a forgery scandal to which the federal government refused to comment. Earlier this week, the FG however said the matter was being investigated. It is not clear if this is the result of the investigation. We shall keep you informed as fresh information emerges.

While sharing his views on the alleged forgery of an exemption certificate by Nigeria's Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, Reno Omokri, a former aid to former President Goodluck Jonathan said it was a case of like minister, liker her president. Referring the President's certificate saga years back, Reno tweeted that, there was no reason for anyone to be surprised. His tweet read: "I don’t understand why @PremiumTimesng is shocked that Buhari appointed a minister who forged her NYSC Certificate. What about President @MBuhari himself. Did he not present a dubious certificate to Nigerians in 2015 dubbed ‘NEPA Certificate’? Like minister like her President!"

Nigeria: Sack Adeosun Now for NYSC Certificate Forgery – PDP

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Buhari to immediately sack the Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun over the alleged NYSC certificate forgery. Adeosun had recently been accused of not going through the mandatory one-year Youth Service Scheme and had, many years after graduating, forged a certificate of exemption. Speaking on the issue, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary of the party called on the President not to provide cover for the embattled minister. In a statement issued on Saturday, he said "The world can now see how the Buhari Presidency has been concealing sharp practices under it.
