Government Won’t Be Pressured into Restructuring Nigeria – Presidency

The Presidency has said that government will not succumb to threats and restructure the country, describing calls for restructuring as unhelpful and unwarranted at a time when the country is battling security challenges and the pandemic. This was contained in a statement by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity on Sunday. It comes in the wake of call by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who on Saturday lent his voice to the call to restructure the country, asking President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently restructure the country to save it from breakup. Adeboye had in a conference warned that it was either the country restructure as soon as possible or it broke up. He added that one does not need...

Opinion: The Deceit Of Amending the Null and Void 1999 Nigeria Constitution

11th August 2020   For the sake of authenticity and thus validity, Nigeria’s Constitution must truly be made by the people, and not be imposed upon the people (unawares) as was the 1999 Constitution. In the past twenty-one years much has been written about the forgery that the 1999 Constitution is. Briefly, “We the people” did not prepare or agree any part of this Constitution as falsely claimed in its preamble. Furthermore, the current Nigeria is not a Federation as stated in the Constitution, instead it operates under a Unitary system. These are just two ways that make the 1999 Constitution a clear forgery.   Since the 1999 Constitution is a forgery, it is not binding because it is NULL AND VOID. It therefore cannot be amended but as a forged instrument must be disc...

Opinion: Removing Buhari Alone Will Not Solve All Our Problems – Fani-Kayode

Election fever has gripped our country and many want to be President. Some are serious contenders whilst others are not. Yet the truth is that our problems cannot be solved simply by a Presidential  election. It is a good start but it is not a cure all. We need to do far more than just electing a new President if we want lasting peace, if we want to flourish as a people and if we want to grow as a nation. Anyone that believes that removing Buhari alone will solve all our problems is naive and shortsighted. We need to go much further than that. The reality is that the problems of Nigeria can only be solved by having a credible and all-encompassing referendum and ensuring that our so-called federation is properly and thoroughly restructured. Anything short of that means we are simpl...

Nigeria: Dogara Backs Nigeria’s Restructuring

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and a representative of the Yoruba Unity Forum, Chief Dipo Jemileyin, have called for the restructuring of Nigeria’s federal structure in line with the country’s peculiar circumstances. They spoke during the ongoing 3rd Annual National Summit with the theme, “Reforming the Nigeria Federation Which Way Forward,” organised by Save Democracy Africa in Abuja on Monday. This is even as a former President of Tanzania, Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, expressed his confidence that “Nigeria has what it takes to deal with its internal issues and uphold the promise of the black race.” He also said a deliberate policy by Tanzania’s founding fathers ensured that ethnic tensions which led several African nations to civil war were kept at bay. D...
