Okorocha Has Been Released – Imo Police

The Imo State Police Command, on Monday, said former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, has been released. Spokesperson for the state police command, Orlando Ikeokwu, made this known while featuring on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme monitored by newsmen. Ikeokwu said Okorocha was released on Sunday night after he was “invited” for “questioning” over the unsealing the Spring Palm Estate linked to his wife, Nkechi. “He was released later at night,” the PPRO said, adding, “If anybody is found culpable, definitely, he will be charged to court. A military aircraft, King Air 350 has crashed on the runway in Abuja, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika announced on Sunday. Sports Minister Petitions IG Over Alleged Fake News

Youth and Sports Development Minister Sunday Dare has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate Sylvanus Ofekun for alleged criminal defamation and incitement capable of threatening national security. The petition, submitted to the IGP on February 16, alleged that Ofekun, with the moniker “Sleeky Sly” on social media, accused the minister of daily benefitting from Lagos Concession Company (LCC), operator of the Lekki Tollgate, which has been at the centre of the #EndSARS protests. NBA Faults Extension of IGP’s Tenure

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has faulted the decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the tenure of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu. The association has consequently sued at the Federal High Court in Lagos to compel the a reversal of the purported tenure extension. The suit, marked: FHC/L/CS/214/2021 has as defendants: the President, Federal Republic of. Nigeria; the Police Service Commission (PSC) and Mohammed Abubakar Adamu. The NBA’s contention, in the suit is that the IGP ceased to be a member of the Nigeria Police Force when he attained the milestone of thirty-five years of service. “Therefore, the President’s extension of Mr Adamu’s tenure by three months, in the NBA’s respectful view, is unconstitutional.”

Ajax Goalkeeper Onana Suspended One Year for Doping

Ajax’s Cameroonian international goalkeeper Andre Onana has been suspended for one year for doping, the Dutch club said on Friday. The club said in a statement Onana had “mistakenly” taken his wife’s medicine which had led to the banned diuretic Furosemide appearing in his urine. Ajax said they had hoped Onana would receive a shorter ban because the substance was “arguably” not a performance booster. “On the morning of October 30, Onana was feeling unwell,” the club said in a statement. “He wanted to take a pill to ease the discomfort. Unknowingly, however, he took Lasimac, a drug that his wife had previously been prescribed. “Onana’s confusion resulted in him mistakenly taking his wife’s medicine, ultimately causing this measure to be taken by UEFA against the goalkeeper.” ...

Former Nigerian Minister, Martins-Kuye, Is Dead

A former Minister of State for Finance and Minister of Commerce and Industry, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye, is died. He died on Sunday morning in his hometown, Ago-Iwoye, in Ogun State. The late politician was born in August 1942 in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu constituency of the state. He studied sociology at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State (1965-1968) and then Economics at the Harvard University Business School, graduating in 1983. He was also a Chartered Accountant.
