The Nigerian Flying Eagles will in some hours time kick off their World Cup campaign against the Brazilian U-20 team. The match which will  be played by 00 hours GMT will be the fourth match to be played by an African team in this year’s tournament.

Africa is represented by Ghana, Mali, Senegal and Nigeria. The first three have each played their first games with Ghana playing a one all draw with Austria, Senegal losing three goals to nothing at the hands of Portugal and Mali surprisingly recording a two goal to nothing win over Mexico.

Whatever the result in the Nigerian match, it will be a repeat of any one of the three results already recorded by African teams. A lot  is expected of the Nigerian team. Despite being rated the youngest team in the tournament,  with players like Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Musa Yahaya, Chidera Eze and other highly talented players, the Manu Garba tutored players will be expected to make their mark on the tournament.

We wish them well as they file out to represent Africa in this this tournament.
