Mali wins third place match

Mali emerged the winner of their third place match with Senegal in the just concluded FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand. The Malian team beat fellow African team – Senegal – to win the third place trophy. Throughout the tournament, Mali showed great promise. After teams like Nigeria fell early in the tournament, Africa’s hope depended on Senegal and Mali to do Africa proud and they have.

In the heart of the Malian team is Adama Traore who scored 4 goals and had 3 assists to his name. The 19 year old who plays for Lille in French Ligue 1 stood out in this tournament and deservedly earned the golden ball as the player of the tournament.

It is hoped that these young players will not fizzle out but will grow into their Senior National teams, growing in skill and experience and adding to the total growth of African football.

Congratulations to Mali! Congratulations to Adama Traore!! Congratulations to Africa!!!
