Mali Triumphs over Ghana

In a rather sad affair at least for Africa, two of Africa’s representatives at the on-going FIFA U-20 World Cup New Zealand 2015 – Mali and Ghana – met at the round of 16. This encounter meant that one of the two African representative must leave the competition at the end of the match. Mali emerged victorious, winning Ghana by 3:0.

Senegal wins via penalties

In another match, Senegal met Ukraine in a match that ended 1:1 at full time and extra time. Senegal went on to win 3:1 through penalties. So two African teams are moving on to the Quarter finals. The fourth team – Nigeria – will tomorrow 11th June 2015 meet Germany in a round of 16 clash to determine what team will advance to the quarter finals. This match will be played by 7:30 (GMT).

Africa will be routing for Nigeria, hoping to increase her representative in the quarter finals to 3. Interestingly, all the teams representing Africa at this world event are from West Africa.
