World Cup: Harry Gets a Hat-Trick as England Trash Panama 6:1

The English team this afternoon, thrashed the Panama team by 6:1. John stones opened scoring for England in the 8th minute while Harry Kane doubled the lead in the 22nd minute from the penalty spot.

England continued to show their superiority by scoring a third in the 36th minute through Jesse Lingard while in the 40th minute, Stones scored again to get his second and England’s 4th goal.

Harry Kane rounded off the first half with a second goal from the penalty spot, getting his second and England’s 5th goal.

The second half saw fewer goals as Harry scored his hat-trick and England’s 6th in the 62nd minute, rounding off England’s scoring for the match. Panama however managed to get a goal back through Felipe Baloy, recording their first ever World Cup goal.

Speaking on the match, the English coach, Gareth Southgate said “I’m really pleased of course with the way we were ruthless for half an hour or so. It was a different type of win to the other day. Then we had to go right to the wire and show qualities that are going to be really importance to our resilience and sticking to our principles of play.

“It’s strange because I enjoyed the win against Tunisia more because of the tension in it and the fact you get over the line when you’re under pressure is very, very special. For me, just before half time the game was done today, so it was a very strange feeling watching the second half just trying to encourage the players to remain professional in the way that they played and be a top team by being ruthless.”

For Hernan Gomez, Panama’s coach, it was not really a bad outing. According to him, the goal they scored was massive for them. He said “Felipe Baloy scored that goal and I felt very moved. He’s a player who will be retiring from the national team and god gave him the opportunity to score that goal because of the way he conducts himself in football and he’s such a professional. When you are a debutant you enjoy it even more and the first goal is even more enjoyable. The result itself: I think the difference in goals could have been even more.

“I’ve had to play against two spectacular opponents – Belgium and England. But that’s absolutely fantastic because that’s how you learn and draw conclusions and that’s how you can tell where your team is but I think England is totally spectacular, a beautiful team.”

With this win, England now has 6 points as does Belgium so the two teams have qualified for the second round, while Panama and Tunisia are out. England will now take on Belgium on the 28th to determine who leads the group, while Panama will take on Tunisia at the same time.
