President Buhari does not have a Northern agenda

In an obvious response to the criticism that has trailed the appointments that President Buhari has made so far, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Mr Femi Adesina has come out to say that Mr president has no Northern agenda. This statement was necessitated by the claims from some quarters that all but one of the appointments made so far by President Buhari has gone to North.

Though President Buhari has not made a lot of appointments, he has made at least 11 appointments. Of all these appointments, only one Southerner made the cut. Interestingly, Mr Adesina is the only non-northerner who has been appointed by Buhari.

Mr Adesina said “The president received a national mandate and was going to pursue it as such. The president does not have a northern agenda. He has a national agenda. He got a national mandate and that is the way he is going to exercise that mandate. I have already said it and I still maintain that.”

There are no doubt a lot more appointments to be made, however, Nigerians are cautioning against actions that will be perceived as favoring one part of the country over the others.
