Olisa Metuh Ekweremadu's life in danger

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP Chief Olisa Metuh has raised alarm that the life of the Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu is in danger. He said this in a press conference and while speaking with Channels Television on Sunday July 5 2015.

Metuh said the ruling party is doing everything possible to ensure that Senator Ekweremadu is removed as the Deputy Senate President. The attempts alleged includes attempts on his life and spurious allegations raised by the APC. Metuh said the APC wrote a petition to the IG of Police which made the Police invite the Deputy Senate President.

Speaking on a live Political program on Channels Television,  a Police Spokesperson said that no one was invited by the Police. he however confirmed that a petition was sent to the IGP by an APC lawmaker, alleging that the house rule was amended unconstitutionally. According the spokesperson, this petition resulted in the Police sending a letter to the Clerk of the house asking for more clarification.

It is not clear at this time whether the Police has jurisdiction over this matter. It is also not clear how this purported illegal amendment was made and what part of the house rule was amended. It is also not clear at this time if the alleged amendment is supposed to be the reason why the NASS elections went the way it went.

There is no doubt that Nigerians are experiencing very interesting times. There is a fresh news and perspective on different issues everyday. There is no doubt that more intrigues will be emerging as the days go on. Nigerians are eagerly waiting to see how this political impasse in the APC and NASS will end.
