President Buhari, prosecute minister who stole $6billion

The Emir of Kano Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II has called on President Buhari to prosecute the Minister who was accused of stealing about $6 billion under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. According the Emir who was speaking with members of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission when they paid him a courtesy visit, all hands should be on deck in the fight against corruption as it is not something for the government alone.

The Emir noted that it was really sad that Nigeria appears to be at the fore of issues relating to corruption. He how however said that ”with the high sense of responsibility and responsible doggedness of our dear President Muhammadu Buhari, I am keenly optimistic that things will change for the better. I am very hopeful that Mr. President will do everything possible to fight corruption to a standstill.”

It will be recalled that after President Buhari’s visit to the U.S, one of the members of his entourage Adams Oshiomole had said that an official of the U.S government informed them that a former minister under President Jonathan embezzled about $6 billion during that administration. This accusation is one of many that has been leveled on several unamed officials of the past administration.

Nigerians are anxious to see President Buhari fulfill his campaign promises which includes seriously fighting corruption and recovering looted funds. So far, there has been a lot of talk with no names called and no one charged. Nigerians like the Emir are still optimistic.
