The Oodua People’s Congress, OPC has warned its former National Coordinator, Otunba Gani Adams not to bring anarchy to Ibadan. The group in a press statement made available to journalists in Ibadan and signed by Chief Akinpelu Adesina urged the state government and various security agencies in the state to prevent an impending calamity by ensuring that its erstwhile leader is not allowed to partake in the forthcoming Oke’badan festival.

OPC stated that it had uncovered plot by Gani Adams to visit Ibadan and cause mayhem which may lead to breakdown of law and order. “We have learnt on good authority of the plan by the erstwhile leader of the OPC, Gani Adams to attend a number of official and unofficial events in Oyo state, beginning with the forthcoming Oke’badan festival. And these occasions might likely lead to the breakdown of law and order, as his attendance is bound not to go down well with members domiciled here in Oyo state, who may forcefully resist the attempt”.

The group added: “The reason for this deduction is the attempt by him (Adams) to factionalise the OPC following his removal from the leadership of the group. Since Adams was removed, his attitude-to say
the least has been bellicose and belligerent.”

It further alleged that after the National Coordinating Council of the OPC had passed a vote of no confidence on Gani Adams; he has illegally appointed a new State coordinator that is easily malleable by him. “And the impostor, Rotimi Olumo, has already commenced the implementation if his (boss) agenda with provocative attacks on members, removal of banners and the vandalisation of OPC zones that do
not bear allegiance to Adams.”
The group which congratulated the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Olasupo Adetunji (Aje-Ogungunniso 1) on his ascension to the throne urged all relevant authorities to prevent Gani Adams from
shedding blood of innocent people in Ibadan.
