Nigeria: My Children School Abroad Because I Can Afford It - President Buhari

While speaking about the current foreign exchange crisis in Nigeria on the program “Talk With Al Jazeera” during his last visit to Qatar, President Buhari alluded to the fact that his children school overseas because he can afford it.

Leading up to this point, the interviewer had asked President Buhari about parents who were finding it difficult to keep their wards in schools overseas as a result of the scarcity of foreign exchange at the official rate. President Buhari had responded that “Not every Nigerian can afford it and the country cannot continue to subsidize the forex needs of everyone.”

Following this response, President Buhari was reminded by the interviewer that his own children (President Buhari’s children) will keep schooling overseas regardless. To this President Buhari responded – “Those who can afford it will still afford it.” The President in one unguarded sentence, has shown how much he really cares about the Nigerians who voted him in as the change agent Nigeria needed.

D money he recovered frm his political opponent in d name of fighting corruption can afford to send his children abroad for study. Afterun, he does whatever he likes nd no body question him.

I dont see anything wrong in sending his children abroad 4 education. If ordinary pple do it,is it the president that can nt do it? The point is that such statement is nt suppose to come out from the president. Is not something he should boast of. Making boast of it makes him unpatrotic president.
