Nigeria: Justice Adeniyi Ademola Discharged and Acquitted

Justice Adeniyi Ademola, one of the Judges whose house was raided by the DSS on allegations of corruption has been discharged and acquitted by an Abuja high court.

Ruling on the matter, the trial Judge, Justice Jude Okeke struck out the 18-count corruption charge brough by the federal government against Justice Adeniyi Ademola, his wife, Olabowale and Mr. Joe Agi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

According to the court, the FG could not prove its case against the defendants. The FG had accused Justice Ademola of receiving a N38.5million gratification through his wife and a BMW 320i saloon car received by his son all from Mr Agi (SAN). He was accused of possessing two firearms without proper licences.

Justice Okeke in his ruling said among other things that “None of the witnesses identified or tendered evidence to show that N30m was paid into any bank account of the 1st defendant either by the 2nd or the 3rd defendants.”
