Senator Bukola Saraki

Dr Olusola Bukola Saraki has emerged the Senate President of the 8th assembly. This appears not to be in line with the wishes of the leadership of the APC as it was previously positioning Senator Ahmad Lawan for this role. Votes are currently being caste for the position of Deputy President which is being contested by Senator Ike Ekweremadu of the PDP who is also the immediate past Deputy Senate President and Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume of the APC.

With the APC not having 2/3 majority of both the lower and upper house, it is looking likely that they will have to learn to woo members from the major opposition party the PDP who still control over 1/3 of the house.

All eyes are on the National Assembly to see who will emerge as the Speaker of the National House of Representatives. Will the will of the party prevail or will the intrigues play out as has been seen in the upper house? The answer shall emerge in a short while from now.
