Popular Nigerian musician D’banj has lodged a libel suit of N1.5 billion on his rape accuser Ms. Seyitan through his counsel Mike Ezekhome (SAN)
Ms. Seyitan had called D’banj out for sexually molesting her at a Glee Hotel, Victory Island, Lagos on December 31, 2018. which she said took
Dbanj procured the services of controversial and foremost Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), to slam a libel suit of N1.5 billion naira on the Ms. Seyitan, a lady who had accused him of rape.
Seyitan had alleged that the music star met her at a party where she declined his amorous advances at her. She said the singer drove to her hotel room in Victoria Island at 2:40 am from his Eko hotel lodge.
She said D’banj got her spare key from receptionist at the hotel and repeatedly raped her after forcefully gaining entrance into her hotel room and threatening to push her out naked if she turns him down.
There were media reports of Seyitan’s arrest by the police on the orders of D’banj. The reports suggested she was made to erase chats, social media posts, and other vital information related to the incident from her device.
Nigerians reacted by calling out D’banj for intimidation and abuse of power.
The singer has however, denied the allegation and sued his accuser for libel. Copy of statement by his counsel Mike Ozekhome can be found below:
