NAFDAC Raises Alarm Over Suspected Fake Augmentin

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has cautioned Nigerians against suspected fake Augmentin 625mg Tabs in circulation in the country. The agency said the product did not meet up with the labeling requirements. The alert which was signed by the management of NAFDAC and titled ‘NAFDAC Alert And Sensitization of the Public on Suspected Falsified Augmentin 625mg’ was uploaded on the agency’s website. According to NAFDAC, the suspected counterfeit Augmentin which was produced in April 2021 would expire in April 2024, adding that the batch number is 562626 with NAFDAC registration number – 04-1928. NDLEA Destroys N2Billion Worth of Illicit Drugs in Akwa Ibom

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, revealed about N2 billion worth of illicit drugs has been destroyed by the agency between 2014 and September 2021 in Akwa Ibom. The Agency’s Secretary, Mr. Shedrach Haruna, who represented the NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, said this when he visited the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo in Uyo on Thursday. Naive Orphan Used By Human Trafficker to Export Drugs

Alleged human trafficker, Matthew Bassey was intercepted by The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in an attempt to traffic illicit drugs to Dubai. The 29-year-old planted the drugs into the luggage of an orphan, Ms. Peter Gift Eno, who he assigned to traffic those drugs, but was later intercepted by NDLEA officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The Global Mercy, the world's largest civilian hospital ship, made its debut in Africa in the port of Dakar where it will stay for four weeks to train health professionals, an AFP journalist noted on Monday. Senegalese President Macky Sall formally welcomed the Global Mercy on Monday morning at a ceremony attended by Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo and Comoros President Azali Assoumani.
