Opinion: The Vindication of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the Biafra Question – P. Omonua

"The trio of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) and Professor Banji Akintoye, all of whom have advocated for the creation of separate independent Nations are not eccentric nor delusional." Someone forwarded an audio recording to me few days ago which must have been preserved for more than 57 years. It was the voice of Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola (SLA), the last Premier of the Western Region and the 13th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland The voice was unmistakable, in his distinctive Ogbomosho accent. The summary of what he said, which I have transcribed from Yoruba to English as best as I could was: “…. Let us the Yorubas come together. Let the Ibos not ‘disorganize’ us with this election. We must not allow them to use this election to destroy our land, take over ...

The Apostle of Auchi, The Pastor of Bolo and Igbo Stereotypes

The Igbo ethnic nationality has received some swipes from a number of Church leaders of very recent. Why it is hard to tackle these at times is that they are presented as goodwill messages meant to make the Igbo better in one way or the other. Pastor Fatoyimbo tell the Igbo that they are under a hustling-spirit curse So, we see Pastor Fatoyimbo tell the Igbo that they are under a hustling-spirit curse because of their stinginess to the work of God. Pastor Tunde Bakare tell the Igbo that they are under a curse, because they forced Alhaji Tafawa Balewa to drink alcohol; a curse which he (Bakare), in his kind nature, has lifted. Father Anelu ban Igbo songs in his parish as he admonishes the Igbo against cultural, and such, domination. Apostle Suleman reprimand the Igbo for disunity...

IPOB Faults Incessant Amendment Of Charges Against Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra has accused the Federal Government of deliberate attempts to introduce empty charges in order to continuously keep Nnamdi Kanu in detention. The group also said the federal government had constantly been amending its charges so as to prolong the issue of Kanu’s unconditional release from the Department of State Services’ custody. In a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, on Wednesday, IPOB said the Federal Government had carried out six successive amendments to the charges filed against Kanu in its desperation to manufacture offences that might provide suitable grounds to proffer charges where no offence known to the law existed. Nnamdi Kanu It pointed out that the manner in which Kanu was brought into the country was ...

IPOB Is Finished – Asari Dokubo Mocks Nnamdi Kanu

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, on Monday, claimed that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is finished. Dokubo in a Facebook Live mocked the leader of the outlawed group, Nnamdi Kanu, for allegedly denying he is a member of IPOB and his members justifying it. He further stated that Kanu has denied the sit-at-home, but questioned who is responsible for the sit-at-home in the Southeast. According to Dokubo, the IPOB leader has shown himself that he is not in the struggle, as he set up a company with no director or head.
