A member, House of Representatives, Hon. Jide Jimoh on Wednesday called on the corporate organizations, business groups and Nigerians to pay tax for the development of the Local governments in the country.

Jimoh, representing Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency made the call in Lagos during Yaba LCDA 2019 Business Summit tagged: “Inter-Personal Relationship Between Local Government and The Corporate Bodies”.

He said that funds generated from the payment of taxes would be channeled to the development of the local government.

According to him, without funding, there cannot be establishment of structures and capital projects. People must pay taxes, rates and levies to the local government which will help in developing the local council.

He commended the initiatives of the council chairman which he said would fast track more development.

” The summit is a welcome development and I salute the courage of the executive, legislative arms and the management of Yaba LCDA for organising this business forum to discuss issues that borders on development of the council, he said.

In his earlier remarks, the council Chairman, Hon. Kayode Omiyale said the council revenue drive would take a persuasive dimension and more scientific approach.

“We do not intend to add to the burden of our esteemed rate payers, but to ensure that everyone that ought to pay, is made to discharge his or her responsibility irrespective of party affiliations, gender, creed or color, he said.

He appreciated organizations and individuals for supporting his administration in terms of prompt payment of levies and rates which has been the drive of the council success.

” Let me appreciate members of the business community in Yaba LCDA. I consider you as partners in progress. Without your invaluable support, our administration would have plunged into serious financial adversity, he said.
