The crisis rocking the ruling party in Nigeria – APC – is far from over. With the NASS elections over, its effects still linger both with the party and its future hold on the NASS and the individual members of the party who are aggrieved. To this effect, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party will today (June 16 2015) meet in Abuja to attempt to resolve this crisis amongst other things.

Speaking with Journalists, the National Chairman of APC John Odigie-Oyegun said nothing was being left to chance. He said he is personally leading the reconciliation efforts. This crisis seems to have affected the submission of ministerial list to the house for screening.

It is about 18 days now since President Buhari took office, yet no significant appointments have been made. This crisis has not helped matters as those who feel they lost out during the NASS election will demand compensation with other appointments.

Oyegun concluded by saying that they are working closely with President Buhari to put up a formidable team of seasoned politicians and technocrats. This is a test for Mr President and the APC. Will these key appointments be used for settlement or will the best hands be given the job? Nigerians are waiting and watching.

With Senator Bukola Saraki and Honourable Yakubu Dogara seeing the PDP as benefactors since they played a critical role in their emergence as leaders of the upper and lower house, the APC has to put its house in order or else the PDP will be the controlling  force in the NASS. This is not a position the APC will want to find itself.
